Barney Goodman Tailors was established in Sheffield in 1926.
For many years we traded from premises in Sheffield city centre, before moving to the fashionable Ecclesall Road. Now for the benefit and convenience of our clients we trade by means of a travelling tailor service.
All our garments are cut and styled in our own workroom and constructed using the traditional methods of hand tailoring. Methods that, in our opinion, remain unsurpassed in creating gentleman’s bespoke tailoring of distinction.
We specialize in materials sourced from West Yorkshire, materials that are slightly heavier than those that are typically used in ready to wear garments. We recommend this extra weight both for the finish and drape of the garment and also for durability, which combined with our method of fully canvassing the garment fronts leads to our reputation of tailoring garments that maintain their shape and give lasting service.
From 1960′s style mod suits through to the classic business suit we tailor to our clients requests:
- shape and width of lapel
- angle of the pockets – straight for the classic look or angled to emphasise shape
- single or double breasted
- number of buttons
- side or centre vent for shape, or no vent for a straighter cut
- slim cut trousers, or pleated for extra comfort
- belt loops, self-supporting or braces
- width and shape of trouser leg – straight, tapered or flared
- plain bottoms or turn-ups
